As part of professional development, several members of the UEA Pre-reg Programme Delivery Team attended the 12th International Life Long Learning in Pharmacy Conference (LLLP) in Brisbane, Australia. The event brought together international and national colleagues with interest and research to share in the area of pharmacy education and professional development. Our team presented innovative work on inter-professional learning in the workplace, structured block placements at GP practices and support tools for cross-sector placements in community pharmacy.
Our 2018 Excellence Awards Day (held at the Radisson Blu, London Stansted hotel) was attended by all trainees and 35 invited guests associated with pre-registration training. A very successful day that celebrated the hard work and achievements of our 2017/18 trainee cohort. All trainees gave presentations on a diversity of topics, including clinical audit results and mini projects conducted during placements at GP practices or CCGs. Our split industry trainees talked about their experiences and career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. Awards were presented to the top presentations. 9 of 10 trainees who took the September GPhC assessment passed achieving a pass rate of 90%. The national pass rate was 58.3% (481/825).
Our east of England trainees achieved an overall pass rate of 98.6% (73/74) which is an outstanding result!

Induction event - 7-8 August 2017The 2017/18 residential study programme starts with a 2-day Induction event to be held at the High Leigh Conference Centre, Hoddesdon. A detailed programme will be circulated to the new trainee cohort in late July 2017.
The GPhC announced the results on Friday 28 July 2017. 64 of our 71 trainees, who were eligible to take the assessment passed achieving a pass rate of 90.1%. This was a disappointing result but still nearly 12% higher than he national pass rate of 78.2% (2208/2823). We would like to congratulate the 64 trainees who passed and wish them all the best for their future careers!
Prato Pharmacy Education Symposium
Several members of the Programme Delivery Team (PDT) attended the symposium and presented educational innovations undertaken as part of the East of England Pre-reg Pharmacist Programme.
Many congratulations to Rina Matala (one of our team members) who won a prize in the category of one-minute snap-shot presentations.
Annual Programme Review and Development Day The programme delivery team organised the ‘away day’ at the Hallmark Hotel in Cambridge. The day was dedicated to a comprehensive review of the 2016/17 training programme and planning for the 2017/18 programme. The team also discussed ways to improve communications and sharing of workloads between team members and strategies for enhancing the quality of the training programme in line with the new HEE Quality Framework 2017/18.
Excellence Awards Day Many pre-reg tutors and audit supervisors from the East of England, joined the 2016/17 trainee cohort and the Programme Delivery team for this event (held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Stansted). We were joined by two invited guests: Alice Conway (Education Lead, Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals) and Aamer Safdar (Pre-reg Manager, Guys & St. Thomas’s NHS Trust).Most trainees gave oral or e-poster presentations on their audit work. The presentations were adjudicated and top scoring presenters received awards.
