Foundation training
We offer (4 x 12-month hospital placements and 1 x 9-month hospital plus 3-months GP placement)
From 2022, we will offer five foundation training placements (4 x 12-month hospital and 1 x 9-month hospital plus 3-month placement at Boroughbury Medical Centre, Peterborough). Applicants will spend time at both hospitals during the year.
Working alongside a committed and experienced Clinical Education Team, supported by highly skilled foundation tutors, we will ensure that you have an excellent foundation-training programme, tailored to you as an individual.
We will support your learning with regular clinical teaching sessions and ward assessment.
We offer experience in areas of hospital pharmacy such as Acute Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics and Neonatal Care, Cardiology, Stroke, Haematology, Oncology, Antimicrobials, Clinical Trials, Medicines Information and Dispensary, with an extended eight-week rotation in a specific area of pharmacy practice which will allow you to gain detailed knowledge and skills, integrate into the ward team and complete an audit. You will also be timetabled a two-week placement in community pharmacy.
UEA provide our regional study programme, to complement your workplace training in preparation for the GPhC registration assessment.

The Pharmacy department
Our friendly, 150 strong team is a core part of the overall hospital structure and within clinical teams, providing support to all areas across the hospital.
Working alongside experienced pharmacists in a diverse and stimulating environment, you will be given many opportunities to apply knowledge in practice, developing a solid grounding, with focus on clinical pharmacy.
We use robotic dispensing, manufacture chemotherapy and are building independent pharmacist prescribing capacity to respond dynamically to the needs of our patients.
