Foundation training
We offer 3 placements (2 x 12-month hospital placements and 1 x 9-month hospital placement plus 3-month GP placement)
Trainees follow a diverse rotational programme, offering exposure to the range of services provided by EPUT and our Acute Trust colleagues at Basildon, Mid Essex (Broomfield) and Southend. Rotations include:
• Dispensary
• Medicines Management
• Medicines Information
• Inpatient mental health (adult, older adult, mother and baby, psychiatric intensive care)
• Community mental health (home treatment, learning disabilities)
• Community health services
• Local Acute Trust Placement
• Community Pharmacy Cross-Sector Placement
Our training programme gives emphasis to providing a patient-facing experience and developing professional and clinical pharmacy skills.
Trainees begin by working under close supervision and gain more independence to practice their skills as they become more confident.
Each trainee will have a personal foundation training tutor who works closely with them to assess progress and guide their development. At EPUT, our aim is to train you to become the best pharmacist you can be!
Trainees have the opportunity to attend a monthly tutorial programme covering exam syllabus topics/ case studies/ calculations practice, with trainees from local Acute Trusts. The programme promotes networking and socialising amongst trainees as well as enhancing their knowledge and skills.
